What Stays on Your Device

Books you open in Echo Reader are read in your browser. Without an account, your books, reading positions, highlights and settings are stored only in your browser on this device, and they are not sent to us.

Your Account

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google.

While you are signed in, the books you choose to remember are saved to your account so they follow you to your other devices: their reading positions, chosen languages, highlights, your reader settings, and the book files themselves (up to the storage limit shown in your account). Only you can access this data.

AI Explanations, Translation and Pronunciation

When you press Explain, the text you selected and the passage around it are sent to Google Gemini to write the explanation. Nothing else from your books is sent.

Translation and pronunciation use the translator and voices built into your browser and device.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited and which features are used, such as opening a book (and its format), highlighting or translating. When you are signed in, this usage is linked to your account's random ID, never to your name or email. Book titles, selected text and search terms are never included. Google Analytics uses cookies.

Who Handles Your Data

We do not sell, trade or rent your personal information. We rely on these services to run Kitab Clubs:

• Supabase: your account, synced reading data and book files; • Google: sign-in, AI explanations (Gemini) and Google Analytics; • Vercel: hosting and Vercel Analytics.

Deleting Your Data

You can delete your account at any time from Account > Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, everything saved to it, and the books saved in that browser. Books saved in other browsers can be removed from their book list, or by clearing that browser's site data.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy as Kitab Clubs changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Your continued use of Kitab Clubs after a change means you accept the updated policy.
